Our History

Electro Bond Refinishing was started in 1972, in Des Plaines, Illinois. It was only going to be a weekend opportunity and quickly turned into a full time business, employing 15+ technicians.

When Electro Bond Refinishing started, it was the only business, of its kind, in the entire Chicagoland area. Back then, the only product available to refinish bathtubs and tile was car paint. The technicians applied it electrostatically to increase the adhesion and decrease the overspray.

As time went by, the company was sold to the current owner in 1992. It was just 2 short years later that Synthetic Porcelain was introduced and that product was made specifically for reglazing and not just painting. With the invention of the synthetic porcelain, there was no longer the need for the electrostatic equipment. The synthetic porcelain is more durable and made to bond to the tub, tile, sinks, showers, counter tops etc.

Synthetic porcelain is exclusive to Electro Bond Refinishing. No other bathtub painter can even get it. That's what makes Electro Bond Refinishing a higher quality refinisher than anyone in the business.

The honor of refinishing a bathtub in a Frank Lloyd Wright house was given to Electro Bond Refinishing in the late 1990's. The company was also featured in the Chicago Sun Times.
